Join RASC Montreal for Nature’s Fireworks
Every August the Perseids meteor shower graces the night sky and your RASC Montreal Centre Outreach Team hosts a Public Event to share this wonder with you. Join us on Saturday, August 10th for the 2024 Papacosmas Perseids Meteor Shower Event, dedicated to Constantine Papacosmas – a dear friend and long time RASC member and longtime meteor observer & who passed away in 2022.
We will offer two sessions of short presentations in the Conservation Centre to learn about meteors, annual “showers”, the origin of the Perseids, and how to observe them – beginning at 7:30pm and again at 8:15pm. Weather permitting we will also enjoy Nature’s Fireworks in Montreal’s darkest skies – right beside our Bellevue Observatory in the Morgan Arboretum: 150 Ch. des Pins, Saine-Anne-de-Bellevue QC H9X 3L2
You don’t need a telescope or binoculars. Just bring a comfortable chair or blanket, dress warmly and maybe bring some bug repellent. We will have RASC Montreal volunteers providing some guidance throughout the night and ask that you respect the space of others enjoying the event, and all attendees are responsible for their own precautions for any public health concerns associated with outdoor and indoor public gatherings.
This is a Free Public Event, but donations are welcome to help fund our Outreach.
