Perseids meteor shower 2020
The annual Perseids Meteor Shower peaks in mid-August and this year falls during a waning Moon, so if the August weather is promising it’s a great chance to step outdoors and take in Nature’s Fireworks. To help prepare for the show, the RASC (Royal Astronomical Society of Canada) Montreal and Ottawa Centres invite you to a free public zoom event on Saturday, August 8th at 8pm EDT. Presenters from both centres will share information about the origin of this meteor shower, a bit about the actual shooting stars we see, how to observe and hopefully capture some fantastic photographs of this annual night sky event which peaks on Aug 12th.
Following the COVID-19 Pandemic measures, we are unable to offer a viewing session for nighttime observing. We invite you to download Zoom to join our public events on your computer, tablet or cell phone, or use one of the call-in numbers to attend by voice-only.
