The RASC Montreal centre members will be observing Earth Hour this Saturday at VICTORIA HALL, 4626 SHERBROOKE W WESTMOUNT. We will have Information tables inside and our member’s telescopes outside for the public.
Astronaut Marc Garneau will be present along with other invited guests. Admission is free and there will be a draw for a year’s free membership in RASC. There will also be entertainment and refreshments for all.

6:00 PM: Concert Hall: doors open; exhibits on display related to energy and climate change.
6:15 – 09:45 PM: Snack food, hot soup & drinks available at cost (bring your own cup and save!).
6:30 – 09:45 PM: Continuous screening of an environmental film.

7:00 – 7:45 PM: Concert Hall: introductions, oral presentations: Mayor Trent (Nicole Forbes), MP Marc Garneau,
Invited speaker – Martin Aubé, professor, Dept. of Physics, CEGEP de Sherbrooke: “Adverse effects of blue-rich white light devices on the night sky””.
7:45 – 8:30 PM: Musical entertainment: the Burton Street Singers
8:15 – 9:30 PM: Outside: if the sky is clear, several telescopes will be set up by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada to observe bright planets, the Orion Nebula and other celestial delights. Events continue in parallel inside Victoria Hall.
8:30 – 9:30 PM: actual Earth Hour, initiated by raising a ruckus (bring a bell or other noise-maker); nearby streetlights will be turned off.
10:00 PM: Doors close.
